WILLIAM NEWTON HOSPITAL COMMUNITY HEALTH NEEDS ASSESSMENT

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) created a new IRS Code which imposes additional requirements on tax]exempt hospitals. Specifically, hospitals must complete a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) at least once every three years. The CHNA must
include input from persons who represent the broad interest of the community with input from persons having public health knowledge or expertise. They then must make the assessment widely available to the public and adopt a written implementation strategy to address identified community needs.
